The Backwoods Skills Day, to be held at the Sir John Lowther Centre on    Saturday 26 October 2024, is an opportunity to learn, refresh or practice old or forgotten outdoor skills.

The skills sessions on offer will include:

* fire – how to build a suitable fire, collect and process firewood, light and douse a fire

* knots and lashings – how to create shelters, as well as make gadgets in a camp kitchen

* shelter building – how to build a shelter that will keep you dry and animals out!

£4 per Guide, Ranger or Young Leader.  All participants will need to bring a packed lunch, drinks and snacks.

The Skills Day CAN be attended without doing the full backwoods challenge weekend which is being held 30 November -1 December
